Default 1.8/1.85:1 Roller Rockers...Yea or Nay?

Okay, I am contemplating the use of roller rockers. I would be installing these at the same time I have my heads/cam swap planned.

I am pretty sure I don't need shaft mount rockers (tho' they are very easy to install) as I won't see RPM's past 6200-6400, I don't think I need a valve train that rock solid.

The SLP's are a cheaper at ~$400 for the 1.85:1 ratio ones. I can't tell if they are roller fulcrum and roller tips...?
The Crane's are considerably more expensive at $700, they are 1.8:1 and have roller flucrums and tips.

Let me know what you think...Thanks

I was goin throught the same thoughts as you. And keep doin the research, for the cost of the rockers alone you can install a LS6 cam and make more power. Cause you will hvae to replace the springs if you put them on. I ended up doing what I said earlier, I jsut got done putting in a 02 LS6 cam in for $200!! W/ springs. <img border="0" alt="[worship]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" /> BUt hey we always need some else out there to try new things so you might wanna give them a shot and I don't think the SLP are full roller.

If you are going to do heads and cam, there isn't much to be gained with rockers, you can choose the lift you need when you choose your cam ...

The SLPs are just a high lift version of the stock rockers and the advantage of roller tips really can't justify the $700 for Cranes.

That said, I put down 402 rwhp with a hotcam, Cranes and a set of TEA S2 heads. But I went with it only because I already had the hot cam, that I had picked up for $180 and I got the complete Crane kit for $300 ... who's to say I wouldn't have gotten the same result or better on a custom grind Comp Cam with 219/228 w/555 lift on a XE or XRE lobes??

Good Luck

I think I am gonna say "screw it" and do it all they way I want the first time. I'd rather have full roller (tips/fulcrum) when I tear it all apart.

Thanks for the input everyone.
