Default Not a "what cam thread", but help me with the extras please

1st let me thank everyone here for all the usefull info.
My eyes hurt from weeks of reading and absorbing data on cam, etc.

I have basically decided on a cam.
What I cannot find enuf of is what I need with it.

I need straight out info.
Not, "a chain, some retainers, etc".
That confuses me.

I need to get a price quote from a sponser and want to be exact.

Cam I am most likely goin with (definatly this big so feel free to advise double springs) tsp or equivilant (pending a better price from another sponser) 233/239

I have a 86,000 mile
6 speed, 373 gear stock rear
daily driven
99' z28

So, throw it at me.
Double chain? necessity?
dual spring kit?
oil pump
lifters?
gaskets, which ones?

price is important, but i only wanna do it once!

if u have a list of "what to do on cam upgrade", besides "change the valvetrain", I would appreciate it. As I want a quote as close as possible. That only happens when u know exactly what u need done.

thanx guys.
thanx 2 all who have posted about thier cams, installs, etc.

doesnt TSP have cam packages like TR does?

if you get everything from TSP get the cam, PRC Dual spring kit, hardened pushrods 7.4 length, JWIS single chain or Rollmaster double, ls6 ported pump, keep your stock lifters, and get the "basic cam/bolt" kit.

I agree with what jrp said, but you can get a cheaper chain. Call SDPC and get a ls2 chain, $28. Maybe not as strong as the JWIS, but better than what you've got in there now. I would also upgrade to the arp crank pulley bolt. I just ordered this stuff today

Older ones have been known to fail, so i would say yes, it is a necessity.

I've got a TSP 231/237 with stock oil pump and stock timing chain. Pegged the speedo several times w/ this setup...no problems.

Also, be sure to get an o-ring w/ your oil pump as you can't reuse your stock one.

i think it's like this, replace the oil pump if:
it's a 98-00 car
01-02 if you're above 50k miles...

You dont have to get a ported oil pump, as a ls6 will suffice. Also the LS6 pump is only like $70, and that will get you going......if you don't have the 130 to spend on the TSP pump....don't get it!

Sent you a pm... want to know where you got the ARP bolt. I just called jegs and they are very high dollar! $33.99!!! Did you find it cheaper... maybe at one of the sponsors here?

Thanks.

I guess I'll add a ported LS6 oil pump to my list... since my rig is a 2000 Z.

Thanks for the advice.

Any particular places that sell them reasonable you would recommend?

Any major sponsor here will sell a good ported oil pump. Go with who you trust. Me personally will be buying a Ported Oil pump that is already shimmed from TSP. They sell there's for around $125, which is a pretty normal price
