Default untuned 232/232 drivability

Thursday i have an appt to get my comp cams 232/232 112lsa cam installed in my 98z, but the problem is the new ls6 intake an dpulley wont be in till the following week (small mix up and what not) so tuning will have to wait till afterwards. I can't change this date for the cam install.

cam is made by Comp Cams
the grind is 3726r/3726r HR112 + 2
valve lift is .595/.595

If you need more info lemme know causei have the cam card, just my scanner is busted

anyhow i just need to know what kind of characteristics i should expect from this cam untuned. Ill have to drive it around for a week to a week and a half untuned.

thanks guys.

What other mods. do you have? That cam seems alittle oversized for a 98z.

That cam will need tuning to idle correctly, but you can adjust the idle using the set screw in the TB as a band aid until tuned.

once i get the ls6 intake and pulley ill be full bolt ons and cammed. I fail to see how this cam is over sized for a "98z" or any other ls1 for that matter.

with my 224/228 cam only time i have troubles without a tune is when i start up i have to let her idle for a few minutes an warm up, after that no issues what so ever. im wondering if this cam will behave similar

You should be able the nurse the car around until you can get it tuned. It might not be fun, but you can probably do it.

Yeah, i drove my torquer on stock a little bit just to see how it would act. Its definately driveable especially if you adjust the set screw as mentioned above.

This is a hard call. I have had all kinds of cams. My GT2-3 cam would not idle on a stock tune. Yet the same car with the G5 cam would idle on a stock tune. I would say just raise the set screw up on the TB and nurse it around for a week. Unless you can get you tune data moved up.

I think 98-02 all have it. Its just a little screw that touches when the blade is closed. You can adjust it so the blade doesn't completely close.

even if it's not on the TB itself, there is still an adjustment about 18" up the cable on 98's.

You should be okay nursing it around. I was able to drive my 237/242 .603/.609 113 around on stock tune. It wasn't fun after the first minute of stop and go as I had to put it into neutral if I came to a complete stop for any amount of time and give it some gas. Didn't always idle right away on startup either, but I managed. It's fine once you get going. Having an M6 would help as well.

Default What he said about M6!!!!

I installed 232/232 on a 113+2 .598 lift in an A4 1998 WS6. On the stock tune it SUCKED ***. Trying to back up was shitty, idle was shitty, and yes you will be using neutral ALOT if you have an auto. But it sounds great and pulls HARD. Lots of lope if you like that. Chirps the tires on 2-3 shift. After mail order tune from Texas Speed the car is awesome to drive. Starts instantly and idles in park, drive or whatever.
