Default ls6 cam, milled ls1 heads..

What do you say about combo like this:

2002 LS6 Z06 Camshaft
0.050" milled (is it too much? Expecting 11:1 compression ratio) LS1 heads
7.350" (or 7.400"?) pushrods

What kind of power will I get from my '99 LS1?

I'm also changing my gear ratio from 2.73 to 3.42..

Later on long tube headers..

Hi
I like the combo but I have the ported LS6 head (Cut .050"). THe LS6 cam is a nice factory cam but does kick it up a notch from the lS1. Most people will tell you if you are going thru the trouble of changing the cam, get one that does the job big time. I guess that is why each of us are individuals, we all have different goals for our car. I am running a CR of 11:2-1, with the Factory PCM settings, the car run just nice and no Knock sense issues.
Just my two cents

I will do the headers at the same time.. but I've searched a lot and did not find answer for that pushrod length question.. if I have LS6 2002 cam and milled LS1 heads.. at what point the "stock" length (7.400") pushrods are good, and when I should change to 7.350"? Is it somewhere 0.050"?

Hi
I believe my pushrods are 7.325" - I purchased my setup from PACE, everything was included.

Hello!
In regards to your pushrod question.
If you take for a example a LS6 GEN3 HEAD,that has been CNC'D,it would be milled at .055"~at which at that point you would need a 7.325"length pushrod.
And that would be a recommendation from GM.
And we do realize that sometimes it does require a pushrod lenght checker.but safely, it would be based off .055" is were you would need that 7.325" lenght. We carry manley pushrods, they would fit the need.

thanks

You have two things to deal with. First, the heads are milled .055", so your rocker arms have moved that much closer to the cam. That would require pushrods .055 shorter. Next, the LS6 cam has a base circle that's roughly .050 smaller than your stock LS1 cam, and that equals .025" on each side of the cam, so your cam is .025" farther from the rocker arm because of the LS6 cam base circle. Add the two factors together, and you get a diffence of .030" in total. You need a pushrod roughly .030" shorter than stock.
