Default cam install question

Does it matter which way the little hole in the lifter is pointing? Does it go towards the front of the motor or towards the back? Also I kept the lifters in order from the same side but I didnt keep them in order from the exact spot they came from. Will this be ok. The car has 50K on it should I just buy new lifters? Thanks

just did h/c swap in my 04 C5 and lifter hole pointed up or down, doesn't matter. lifter trays index lifter. should keep lifter in same hole but roll with finger and check for smooth operation. if not, buy new
