Default Rocker arms suggested with new heads??

i have a complete new setup....mti stage 2e heads and g1 cam. the only thing that will be left stock in my valvetrain will be lifters and rockers. im leaving the stock lifters in but i really wanna know if leaving my stock rockers in there will hurt me....either give me problems or hurt performance?? i really dont have an extra 500 bucks to spend right now, so should i wait and do the install when i have a good set of roller rockers, or will i be ok with the stock ones? im really not worried about the little 5hp difference i will get with rollers, but i am worried about the increased friction with the stock ones. will this cause any problems for me?

I had HS rockers on my previous H/C setup. When I got my new stuff (in sig), most people I talked to (Tony @ AFR, Louis at LGM, etc) said specifically to run stockers, that the risks (valve float, incorrect preload) outweighed the potential rewards (less friction, more power). A survey of the higher hp cars (Gomer, Damian, 01-Z, etc) shows most if not all of them run stockers. I sold my HS rockers and went back to my stockers fwiw. The only knock on stockers is needle bearings falling out, but even that is a rare occurance. I have read too many threads where cars with aftermarket rockers (YT, HS, Crane) either had valve float, incorrect preload, or were down on power.

Thats my .02, Shawn

I originally had a set of Yella Terra's on my car and they showed a lot of wear for the length of the time that they were on the car.

nothing, but they'll be new ... really depends on how many miles on the stockers to decide whether to replace them or not, i'd say over 50k miles might as well for the insurance.

I like my HS rockers. Much quieter, car rpms faster, and I gained 15hp. (note-they are 1.8s) I run my motor to 6500 rpm with no float, and I don't worry about them falling apart. But if you got the $, Jessels ARE the best. THo they are shaft mount & can be a PITA to install! The 1.7s do not need clearancing, while the 1.8s might.

They'll be new lifters identical to stock ones, they're just much cheaper. Stock rockers are very light at the tip, and there are several people running them over 500rwhp with no problems.

well i guess i will stick with the stock rockers for a while. anyway, if i ever wanna change them, at least i dont have to pull the heads....just the intake and valve covers. and i only have 13k miles on my car, so i will probably stick with my stock lifters also. thanks guys

Intake doesn't have to be removed to swap rockers, just pull the coil packs and valve covers and swap 'em. An hour job tops....
