Default A lot of people switching from TR224 to F13

It seems that a lot of people have been pulling out their TR224's and replacing them with the F13. How much better is the F13 over the TR224? How much different does the F13 drive? I am about to install a TR224 and hope to reach 400rwhp but if the F13 is a lot better then I might just sell the TR224 and buy a F13 now!

If you are going to swich the TR224, might as well get a big cam for all the time and effort involved. I had the TR224 and sold it before it was ever installed. I bought the F10 and the F10 idles better and make about 10rwhp more than TR224. The F13 would be a nice cam and that would be the I would use, if you were to change cams. If you a cam that has a lope, get the TSP 233/239.

The TR224 is a really nice cam, but if I were you I'd go F13. The F13 will drive just as well (if not better) as Futral's cams are known for excellent idles and streetability. You will also make more power with it.

You will like the 224, IMO it is Thunder's best cam. It makes a lot of torque in the midrange, which makes it a really good street cam.

yeah this snow is killin me too, i hate it

anyways how much more power will I gain if I just go with the f13? Does it sound nastier at idle or about the same? Im pretty sure I will make 390-400rwhp with the TR224 and since I am sticking with the stock 10bolt for awhile, I cant see it handling anymore power than that. I think I am going to stick with the TR224 since I already have it and I don't feel it's worth going through the trouble of waiting around to sell and find a F13 for a few extra HP.

On a side note I plan on switching to 3.73 gears before the spring.

The F13 makes 6-8 more peak rwhp than the F11. Those are words out of Allan's mouth. And it idles the same.

TR224 makes better power under the curve, past 4700 is where FM13 takes over, so it all depends on how you like to drive.

How can a cam like the F13 that has 6* more duration on the intake and 8* more duration on the exhaust with 7* degrees more overlap (the TR224 has 0 overlap) than a TR224 idle and drive better than the TR224?

Please explain this?

Thanks

Yeah, it used to, it was an overlayed G5x2, Fm13, TR224 dyno sheet on the same car and Tr224 had them both under the curve.
I removed it. Bummer, I liked that graph.

both cams are good. the tr224 makes more Tq from off idle to about 4500-700rpm then the F13. After that the F13 makes more Hp. IT all depends what you have and what you want. I feel the tr224 is better with stock gears or 3.73's for street use. The f13 since it makes less Tq down low....would be best with 3.73-4.10's and is alittle more of a street/strip cam. Still streetable.....I feel you can't go wrong with either one. Both are proven performers......is a 10-15hp difference in hp worth it to you or the difference in torque throughout the curve. If you already have the tr224 and emissions is a concern....then the tr224 114 is the way to go. If you want more power.....SPRAY IT....or go forced induction. The tr224 114 is a good forced induction cam.

Thanks for the info, I'll just keep the 224 for now and if I ever need more power, a dry nitrous kit looks like a good choice
