Default Advice please: Doing a 224 cam and 1.8 roller set-up is it worth it?

Hello all:
Well I will make this short and sweet. I did a serch also but I just want to hear from some of you what you really think.

First I live in California so I want to make it smog legal.
I have a 02 Z-28 auto and have catback, air lid, bellow's boot, ported throttle body and will be doing a 3,000 stall next week.

I was looking into doing a complete head and cam but I also am working on the house so I want to try to keep the cost down.

So I was looking into doing a 224 cam and 1.8 roller rockers and have it tunned after. To have the cam and 1.8 roller rockers installed I am looking at $1,100 for the cam and installed and $350.00 for the 1.8 roller rockers.

Is it worth it or not? Please all advise. Thanks Ken

What's the lift of the cam? I would think that would make your emissions count even higher. I'm sure there's a few topics you could find showing people's gains etc as well. What kind of valvesprings?

Why not ask a cam manufacturerer to grind you a higher lift 224? I'm pretty sure Overlap is all that affects emissions which is only changed by altering the duration and LSA, so I don't think higher lift would hurt passing emissions but I could be wrong... It's been a while since I've cared about a sniffer

Oh, and do it yourself

You need to post your cam specs. Im sure you dont mean 224 lift. If its the TR cam they dont recommened the use of 1.8 rockers. More info is needed on your set up.

That is just it I haven't even picked out a exact cam yet. I wanted to first see if it would really be worth just doing a cam or not. I do need it to pass smog since I am in Calif also.

the regular tr224 114 will pass smog, keep your exhaust legal and tune and you'll pass.
