Default Post cam install power loss...

Need more direction on this one. Looking for more educated opinions to detemrmine my next course of action/remedy.

Installed C1 cam a couple months ago and just got the tuning done last week or so. Long story short, I dropped 7 RWHP from before the cam went in.

The car has LS6 intake, Grot LT's w/ORP and ASP U/D pulley and is M6. I dynoed 331/333 last year and was hoping to get the numbers I was looking for but to no avail. The car did 324/346 after tuning but the dyno graphs are almost a carbon copy of a stock cammed car. The power peaked at 5500 and dropped off by 6K. Torque peaked at 3200 and dropped off by 5K. The A/F is perfect. No KR. No SES or other strange noises. Idle and drivability are impeccable. The car hits hard at 3K but falls on it's face because there is no high end.

The cam was installed dot-to-dot and new 918's, Ti retainers and JWIS chain went with it. Four people looked at the timing marks before we bolted up. We DID NOT turn the crank beforehand though to check the dots afterward. My question is this: Has this happened to you? If so, how did you fix it? Should I buy a new cam first in case the dots are straight and the cam may be outta whack?

Speaking to Raughammer, I now know that the dots can become disoriented during bolt up sometimes and I'm hoping that when we pull the cover, we will see the dots are out of whack and we'll straighten it out.

What else can cause this besides an improper cam grind? I am in the process of speaking to MTI about a possible solution to this situation since I know better than to think this is normal from a C1. Thoughts, anyone? I'm all ears. I just want the car to pull numbers that reflect the mods!! I have heard from a couple of people, including the tuner, Tim, that the car sounds like it is "one tooth off" and that it sounded "flat". Ideas? Thanks for your help.

I am curious as to what this is too...

I have a similar problem, TR224 cam, lost 28HP... Everything seems to be ok, sounds good, but no power.

If you are off one tooth, I think you'd have PtoV clearance problems. I highly doubt that the cam is ground wrong. You only installed the chain and used stock gears, or was it an adjustable setup?

Have you done a compression check on your car?

Turns out the cam gear was off a tooth, and I believe there may be a discrepancy in which cam was in there... it might be a C2 cam. I am going to goof off and drink some beer with the afore mentioned knucklehead tonight and will get the full story in a couple of hours...

All I know is it's really strange. I stood there, flashlight in hand and pushed the cam gear into place, with timing marks in the correct spot, myself. First time for everything...

After some Killians Red with the other "knucklehead", I'm back!

Yes, for those of you interested, the dots worked off a tooth. No P/V issues...car ran fine, just down on top end. Although I did end up with a C2 to begin with, that issue was quickly cleared up by MTI. I'll cast another vote for their customer service. Thanks, again to Jayson.

All is well now. I am waiting to see the numbers now that the new C1 is in and properly installed. I'd have kept the C2, I just didn't want that much lift.
