Default How much can you retard cam to increase Pto V clearance?

Just like the title says. How many degrees can you retard a cam to increase your clearance?

I am thinking of getting a TSP 233/239, but my heads are milled .055. I was hoping I could retard the cam a few degrees if it was close instead of flycutting.

One more question. What would you guys consider the minimum amount of Piston to valve clearance needed for peace of mind?

TIA

check p/v, you may have enough with stock valves. www.vincihighperfromance sells the VHP Beast 228/232 .551 lift but says all their .551 lift cams will clear with 1.8 rockers, making lift .590. retard cam up to four degrees, but you would make better power with it dot to dot and degreed. if it does not fit, do it right, rather than over

retarding the cam is, well, retarted

Depends on the application, but more than 2-3 degrees will make the cam have zero bottom end.
