Default Anyone here have an HPE Iron 408?

What are your opinions on this setup?

https://www.horsepowerengineering.co...ea17a075d3e8c5

How much more does this block weigh over an aluminum?

What heads/cam combo did you go with and what are your power numbers?

Thanks
-Steve

I have one of their short blocks. I went with a cam they recommended. I think it is a custom grind 244/248 maybe. I will be returning when they get some AFR 225 62cc heads in stock. Till then I won't have any numbers.

I have an iron 408 but it was built by a friend of mine. He went with a really small cam for it because its my daily driver and I didnt have the right heads on it either. All of my numbers are in my sig. I just replaced my heads with Patriot Stage 3 LS6 style heads and will dynoing tomorrow and can give you the results if you would like.

Ok my numbers are 454 rwhp and 465 rwtq. I dynoed 43x last time I dynoed at that particular place so it looks like I picked up around 20 hp or so. Looks like I also need a bigger cam, LSX intake and TB and 1 7/8 headers to get more out of my motor. On a side note though I also hit it with a 100 shot and it made 554 rwhp and 709 rwtq!!! These heads must love nitrous or something.

That dyno looks low for a 408. Even with a 236 duration cam seemed like it would still be around at least 470+

It is a dynojet and I thought the same thing about it being low. I was expecting about 470 rwhp. Also my cam is a 234/242, Messed up when I made my sig. Think that could have something to do with it??

Iron block is 60lbs heavier.

I made 452/568 through a TH400 and a 9in with my 408. It wasn't a race motor either....with only 9.0:1 compression and 24x/250 cam.

wow 100 shot actually gave you 100 on the dot more rwhp... that is odd.
