Default Oil discussion

I am almost ready to put my engine together. Its going to be a 4.00bx4.00s. I have alwayz kinda wondered what to use as a break in oil. I heard that conventional oil was better(by my automotive instructor) b/c it doesn't "leave" bearings as bad as a synthetic does and it stays around longer. It isnt up to date with the synthetic but I figured what the hell on the break in. But I was wondering what I should use for a breakin weight? I was assuming a 10w30 ro something but it won't be very warm when I put it together and I didnt want to put MANY miles on the oil.... but the breakin miles will probably be my spring break trip. Which would probably be about 800 miles round trip and I REALLY dun want to have to change my oil while there, but I do have some buddies there if I have to.

I will probably be using a catch can type PCV and when I change the oil I'll use Royal Purple with a K&N filter. I am undecided about a weight yet. Maybe a 5w30 or something.

I just want some feed back and suggestions guys. TIA!

Josh S.
