Stock bore is 3.898. 2001-2003 LS1/LS6 can be bored 0.010... 97-00 can be honed 0.0040... Does this help?

most only go to 3.905 but I have seen a few turbo cars run 3.908 with no issues.
Mine may have to use 3.908 also. gonna find out this week. Gonna install new rings. Hoping I can just flex hone it and not need new pistons

I wouldnt even bore it because if you are looking for cubes look into other blocks like LS2, L92, LQ9, LS7, LSX, Warhawk, ect.
The only reason to bore the LS1 block is when you want to go Forged pistons. I also think the only forged pistons that fit the factory bore are wesico pistons.

You can get the LS1 block sleaved by Darton. Then i think you can have a bore of 4.125? Someone correct me if i am wrong.

What are you looking to do? For what app.?

Default Ls1 Mid

Darton MID liners for the LS1 have two part numbers for two size ranges.
600-120 range is 4.125" to 4.160" bore
600-140 range is 4.170" to 4.200" bore

Many are now building 454" engines of 4.185" bore and 4.125" stroke using either the LS1 MID or LS2 with dry Darton Seal Tite liners. All Darton LS sleeves are 5.800" long ensuring adequate piston support for strokers.

I know this is an old thread but I figure better to dig up an oldie than start a newbie.
I have a 2000 LS1 that needs bored due to some scuffs, the guy said .010 would get the job done so is it safe to go with 3.908 or is that to much?

TIA

Bill

From what I now understand is that is the max safe bore ! That's what I'm going to do ! 3.905 Bore, 4" crank, and 6.125 rods will give you a 383-LS1 . With good flowing heads(243's or 317's for the CP) and a beefy cam will get me 450+whp or close to it.
