Default Will the F11 be too big for an M6, 3.42, & stock weight?

Sorry for "what's the best cam for me" question, but I've read countless posts and I'm still having a hard time deciding. So thanks for the patience!

The car will be driven mostly on the street, but it is not a daily driver. It will see the track at most twice a year. I do not plan on installing a rearend and/or steeper gears for sometime. And I don't want to spin the engine too high (probably shift around 6300 or 6400 rpm). My goal is to have a high 11/low 12 second car. And I plan to get all the bolt-ons.

Originally I was sold on the TR224, but after reading numerous posts I'm starting to lean towards the F11. How will the F11 perform on the street with 3.42's? If the F11 is not a good cam for my application, then what is? TR224? F5? etc.

Thanks,

Jim

call FMS and ask them. i think an f11 would be good. i run an f13 with the stock 3.42 gears, and its not bad at all but it would really benefit from some 4.10's.

With the F13 you'd need more gear and if you ever got traction you'd need a new rear end. With either though your concerns of drivability are not really worry about with a tune both cams would be easy to live with...

I'm driving a 233/233 on stock gears and its fine. Gears would def. help out, but its not like its a dog down low.

Last summer I went through the same thing trying to pick the best cam for my 98 Z28. I didn't want to spin my motor really high and I knew I would be running the stock 3.42 rear until it breaks. I decided on the F11 on a 112 and have no regrets. My max hp was 365 at 6000 rpm and max torque was 356 at 5000 rpm. My torque was over 350 from 3200 to 5300 rpm. These numbers were with the mods in my sig, as you can see I still have the LS1 intake and stock throttlebody, stock pulley, stock thermostat and unfortunately I didn't have the cam degreed when it was installed. If I had all the bolt-ons I believe I would be in the 380 hp + range. Plus it sounds so good I could listen to it idle all day long. Like someone else mentioned, if you are not sure just give Futral a call and they can help you out.

I think the F11 is a great choice for your intended use. I dont spend a lot of time at the track and my car is not a DD, but with this cam it could be My #'s are in sig and that is with used 918's that were experiencing float at around 6500. I know this because Allen Futral did my dyno tune and picked up on it right away. I have since installed new 918's/along with TI retainers and now it will bounce off the 6800 limiter with the best of them (wouldn't before spring swap). I am looking to redyno soon with the new springs and see what I pick up. Good Luck.

The F11 would be a great choice for your expectations. FMS cams are VERY good for a daily driver.

I'll call Futral and get their opinion, but from what everyone is posting I'd say the F11 is what I'm looking for. Thanks for all the prompt responses!

I'm back on a M6 and 3.42 after busting my diff. with 3.73s. The F11 does have great tq. 3.73s will wake the car up but the setup does great with 3.42s.

After reading all this, I'm happy I went with a f13. Not many people have bad things to say about FMS cams. Now I just have to get it in. What would be the optimal gear for a f11/f13?
