Default should i wash the engine !!

we use to do something to get the engine clean from inside .. but am not sure if it is ok with the ls1 .. we take down all the engine oil .. then we fill the empty engine with a cleaner ( 1.5 litters ) and we let it run for 5 minutes and then we stop the engine and let the cleaner out .. then we re fill it with oil ( 5 litters acoording to my oil pan ) .

we do i do that ? cuz every time i change my engine oil and after 400 km i check it and i found BLACK AND BURNED .

i did it once and i felt smoothness and the engine become healthier .
but a friend of mine said u ganna harm ur piston rings by doing that .

guyz i need ur opinion .

I've never heard of anyone draining all their oil out, adding back a cleaner, then running the engine. I HAVE seen people drain out maybe a quart or two and then add a detergent made (sic) for cleaning everywhere the oil flows, then running for 30 minutes. Heck, I've seen folks add automatic transmission fluid to their oil and run it for awhile before an oil change. I personally don't see much point in it with todays oil and engines.
Now I HAVE added spray-type GM top end cleaner down the throttle body to clean up the intake, combustion chambers, etc. Only when I start getting KR that consistently pulls timing.

Default Oil

Don't put anything in your oil
Sea foam is added through the pcv system it is a top end cleaner.
Do a search for de carbonization
get a catch can
Use chevron injector cleaner at every oil change for a while and it will clean things up ,it goes in the gas tank.

I highly recommend a product called Auto-rx, it cleans the inside of your engine better than anything, and is totally safe to run in your engine for long periods of time (unlike Seafoam or other harsh cleaners)

I would like to hear a little more about the auto rx.I have a couple of questions.
Is it added to fuel is it used to de-carb
Is it spray ed in the intake
Is it a fuel additive
Where can you get it
Sea foam or GM top end cleaner with kit seems to be about the best unless you let the dealer do it for big $$$$$$$
After the AMW CATCH CAN i HAVE BEEN CLEAN

Hey Patman where can I find this Auto-RX stuff? I know you have done your research on this or you wouldn't be recommending it. Thanks
I'm going to do a search on this and see what I can find. Thanks Patman

(Since you're an Aussie) Mate, what do you think is lubricating the moving parts of your engine for those five minutes when you have nothing in it but 1.5 liters of "cleaner?"

I tried this last fall on my Honda Passport (notorious for noisy lifters).

Towards the end of the first application, my occasional minor tick turned into an all-the-time very-loud tick. It sounds like somebody is holding a metal rod in a fan. It goes away above 1800 rpms, and comes back under 1800 rpms. Must have partially plugged something somewhere. Probably not the auto-rx product itself, but whatever it was washing out, landed somewhere else....

That's been my experience with it.

I know what you're talking about with that 5-minute deal, my uncle did that on my 67 bird when I still had the 350 in it... It was so damn loud when it was running for 5 minutes, then you drain it, fill the engine with oil and run it... My engine was too penzoiled up (sludge in the top end) and cooked a rod bearing about a month later... I would NOT recommend that "trick"... It only does a number on your bearings and other moving parts...

You can always try washing your engine like this idiot did in this post
https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=153274
Now there are Red x's for pictures but the first on showed a water hose in the oil fill hole and they second was him pouring oil in it. This guy is crazy.

seem that there is no way to flush the engine safely , there is another way to flush ur engine .. how ? .. by changing the oil with another heavy oil like castrol 20-50 NOT 10-30 .. by doing that 2 or 3 times ull have ur engine flushed . but ull have to spend 3 months until u get the engine clean !

Seem slike instead of flushing the engine, you may want to have it checked. 400 Km and it's black and burned tells me there is something wrong there and flushing isn't the answer. My .02!
