Default PTV clearance and fly cutting questions

I am looking at adding a tsp 231/237 112(or possibly 114) cam. The lift on this thing is essentially .600. I am also going to a set of stage 2 ls6 style (lq9) heads. They have a huge cc and I need to mill them to bring the CR back up into reality. I have been considering milling as much as .035-.045. Is that even possible, or should I look for a cam with a lower lift? Would fly-cutting the pistons be an option? Obviously I should clay it, I just don't want to clay it and wind up saying, "oh ****, the track opens in a week and I won't be ready because I need a new cam."
Thanks in advance.
