Default ls1 cam degree kit with heads off?

I am wondering which cam degree kit you guys recommend for doing a ls1 with the heads off and the motor on a stand? I see some are "set up" for doing it with the heads on and thats why I ask.

The website says it requires a modification for LS1's. Must be a magnetic setup that doesn't "stick" to the aluminum. Why don't you just put a head on?

I just did this, it's easy. You'll need a dial indicator with a magnetic base, a small steel plate that you can bolt to the block somewhere (to attach the magnetic base to), and a degree wheel. Bolt the plate down to the deck, mount the base to it, then position the dial indicator right over the lifter.
