Default How many miles on your Comp 921 springs?

I'm considering an AFR 205 purchase, and there is an optional 921 upgrade. I suspect I'd go with the tried'n'true 224/228 cam, but I've been bitten by broken springs and trashed heads/motor twice. So I'm looking for a spring I can drop in and forget about it. None of this 'check pressure every 10-15000 miles' scenario. Something with the same reliability as the stock springs are on the stock engine. If that means I need a smaller cam, I'll consider it - but how much smaller?

I'm looking for folks who have 30K+ miles on a single set of aftermarket springs and aftermarket cam, etc.

I am at 25,000 miles on my 918s with no probs at all and I may be to 30,000 before I get to change them. (224 cam) Great spring and I am going to replace them with another set.

I've had my 921 dual springs in for over a year now and about 8,000 miles or more. You do realise that these springs have an open seat pressure of 400 lbs? After having mine I think they rob the motor of some horsepower. Don't get me wrong, I freaking love them, but maby something lighter is better. Also, I had to jimmy rig my spring compressor to work with the dual springs because none of them grab the middle spring very well. I"m sure 918s would be good enough unless you plan on running over .600 lift!

No, I'm not planning on a cam with more than .600 lift - more like .57x-.58x lift, I'm not sure if it's XE or XE-R ramps which AFR uses. I believe the stock spring with the AFR is equivalent to the Patriot Gold dual, and the upgrade is the 921 dual. How much open seat pressure does the gold spring have? How much trade-off is there between power I'm potentially losing and spring longevity.

I think I've read of one broken gold dual (and it may have been an early design), but not of any broken 921's. Of course, not all owners are on the internet, and the inherent cost of the 921's reduces the sample size as well.
