Default Please Help Oil Pump Pick Up Tube

Hey guys im in the middle of a cam install on my 99 camaro the MS3, Right now I am in the middle of changing the oil pump. My question is- On the oil pump pick up tube there was only one bolt connecting the pick up tube to the oil pump, what gets me is that there is two threaded holes on the pump as if there should be another bolt and there is a spot for the bolt to go throught on the pick up tube. I am the original owner and that is the original pump so i know someone hasn't gone in and half assed something. Is there only suppose to be one bolt and the other for ls6 cars or something ?? Help fast i have to put it back together soon really soooon !!! thanks SHANE please if you are not sure do not tell me a guess only say if you are sure thanks

I am doing my cam, etc install this weekend also. I also noticed the pump has two screw hole. Then I was looking at a few of my instructions and I noticed a picture with the one bolt on the other side. My bolt is on the bottom closest to the oil pan. The one I saw in a picture it was on the top left. I wished mine was on the other side. It looks like it would be easier. I am doing the valve springs right now. I had to take a lunch bread. I only have four more springs to remove/install.. Good luck on yours. I am saving my pump for after I do the valves. I installed a double chain and it is going to be a , I can tell.

I don't think you can get a torque wrench in there. I used a gear wrench and some loctite and tightened it up by hand, estimating what the correct torque setting should be.

Use the old crank sprocket to line up the pump keys. Then slide it on the crank and turn until you are lined up with the new sprocket. Makes it a lot easier.
