Have you tried searching? There are hundreds of cam threads, and lots of information available about many common LS1 grinds that will fit your needs.

However, you should probably look for a 114'ish LSA cam that has around 220-235 duration and 550-575 lift, just stay away from the 106-110 lsa cams.

weight and gears?

i've got a custom cam for my road racing application 238/236 .586/.589 112+0

the ASA or tr224 112 would be a good place to start.

It seems like a very novel question to me. I have seen very little threads on autocross specific cams, let alone other stuff.

in my experience in autocrossing, i keep the car in 2nd gear and often times need to accelerate from nearly a stop..... so i think area under the curve is paramount, and i would recommend a 224ish cam.....

i really don't think that the hp added by a cam is going to be your number one priority when building a good autocross car...

open track or road racing of course is a different story

I ran a TR224 114 all last year in autoX, and it worked great. This year I'm going to try something a bit bigger, see sig. We have some pretty big autoX tracks out here, but I also plan to open track and road race. A guy I autoX with has a 350 SBC with 250 ish cam and 373 gears through a Muncie M-22 in a 68 Camaro, and that works fine for him. It really doesn't matter that much, as mentioned above, there are higher prioritys for a good autoX car, like a set of Koni shocks.

One thing you could do to the engine that would help is extend the rpm range with some good springs and push rods, then up the rev limit. This helps since it is nice to stay in one gear (usually 1st or 2nd depending on track size.) On our biggest and fastest track, I hit the rev limit in 2nd gear (6750 rpm.) I wouldn't worry about losing low rpm torque, you have more than you need for autoX anyway. Very easy to make the tail step out on turn exit with a fbody.

no offence ment since i know you're looking at engine mods, but you'll drop ALOT more time in autoX working on the suspension first. and tires... tires would be my first mod.

cool. if i were you, my next mod would then be shocks/struts, harder biting brake pads and possibly SS brake lines... the latter helping more with feel then with actually stopping faster.

as far as your cam goes, since you'll be doing alot of part throttle and transitioning, you'll need a really nice tune to keep it smooth... most tuners tweak WOT, then get part throttle "close enough"... you're probly looking at a cam 224 or under..... something like a 212/224 on 114 would boost power while remaining really smooth.. but your main concern should be the tune...

I don't see why you would ever want less than a good 224 cam like the TR224. And something with at least 230 degrees would be my preference, even for AX.
