Default 5.3L vs LS6

I noticed on another thread where a set of 5.3L heads outperformed anothers LS6 style heads. What is the better way to go on a full bolt-on 346 H/C setup? This was 2.02 valve vs 2.055.The LS6 style has more compression.I personally believe the 5.3L heads with a larger valve (2.04 or 2.055)would be better.

How did the ls6 heads have a Higher CR.

First who ported the ls6 heads and who did the 5.3.

IF you are running on stock cubes then i would stick with no bigger than a 2.02 intake vavle.

stock 5.3 heads have lower chamber ceilings. The valves are .030" closer to the pistons. (that's how they get the compresssion) 2.05" valves will limit your cam selections due to P/V clearence issues.

He said that the ls6 heads had a higher CR not the 5.3.

Also i notice that u said LS6 style. I am guessing u are talking PP heads. Not realy ls6 heads.

Its really hard to beat the 5.3 casting. They are cheaper, gives more compression and has been proven on many engines time and again. Just search the dyno section on this site and there are a bunch of good #s from 5.3 headed combos. Its my favorite head to work
