Default 12K miles with 224/224 .563 114. 12K change dual valve springs?

I have a 224/224 .563 114lsa cam with dual crane valve spring kit and about 12K miles on the motor. No track time just revving to redline as any one would enjoying the new found power...

Is there a certain mileage I should plan to replace the valve springs and if so...what should it cost?

I had the crane valve spring kit thrown in when we did the cam..

The cars a blast...

Best mod i've done to date...The cars so civilized with its 224/224 .563 114lsa cam installed by TTP I can't help but use this car more and more each day.

Just figured I'd ask this question to you guys who have modded their motors and used similiar cam and valve spring kit.

Thanks in advance for your response...

JB

You need to have the springs checked for any sign of weakness (seat pressure)
That does not mean you'll change them.
Just regular mod maintenance.

but if the springs are showing signs of fatigue, this is the way to prevent future damage.

With the crane dual valvesprings, I'd think that you'll be set for quite some time. There's a guy on here Chef, ( moderator ) he's had a cam in his car for about 30K, and has 918's in his car, no problems. He says tehy are about due for a swap now though. With the duals, and the cam you are running, I'd suspect that you should be able to go 20K before I'd worry about it too much. How high are you spinning the motor to, and how often? If you are keeping it under 6500 ( which is about where that setup will stop making power anyway ) I'd think that you'd be safe to about 20K, then have them checked.

I personally an going with 918's on a cam that's bigger than what you are running ( no trex or ms3 size ) and feel that things should be fine for A good 15K before I worry about it. That's about 5 years with the use my car sees.... by then the motor will be out and be getting done, stock heads will go on the shelf, so will the springs.

Thanks guys...I was just thinking about normal maintaince for the car and it popped into my head that I'm enjoying this car so much the miles are piling on...and I didn't want to forget when I needed to consider the valve spring thing.....

So at 20 thousand miles from the time I had the cam installed .. I'll have the valve springs checked and take it from there...

The improved performance is definitely worth the maintaince of checking and or swapping springs every 20k miles without a doubt...

john when your ready you will only need the springs"$149.99" and the seals"$16.00". when your ready to swap them out we can do it for $150. I would change them at 20k to be safe.

george

Hey or at 20k we can put on a nice set of afr 205 heads hehehe.
