Default ANOTHER head and cam question

I am looking for the BEST h/c combo. The block is a 2000 ls1 with all lower internals stock. Will be mated to a th400, in a 3000lb vehicle. I want the BIGEST cam that can be used with the stock pistons without cutting. Emissions are not a problem, the motor will be in an offroad application. The rpm should be somewhere between 1500-6000. I want a heavy/rough, lots of lobe idle. Now I need heads to flow good with a suggested cam. I need to keep about 10.5:1 on the compression (pump gas).

Can someone please suggest the best h/c combo with all the specs listed. I will need to know int/exh, lift and lsa of the cam. I want to know the head cc, valve sizes, what springs and retainers.

Thank you, Joey

Joey we have a package we've put together using Precision Race Components Stage 2.5 heads & a Mini Stick Camshaft. This combo has gone near 460rwhp in the dyno section of the site. The 5.3l heads should put you a little bit over 10.5:1 compression, but it should work really well on pump gas & peak by about 6300 or so

The Camshaft Is A:
TSP 235/240 .603/.609 113 Comp Aggressive Lobe Camshaft
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
PRC Stage 2.5 heads

*Brand New GM 5.3l Castings
*Manley 2.04/1.575 Valves
*PRC Gold Double Spring Kit
*Titanium Retainers
*Seats, Seals
*Fully CNC Ported
*Fully Assembled & Ready To Install
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Texas Speed 7.400" Hardened Pushrods

The entire package for $1999.99!!!

Jason, Thanks for the reply, that is the answer I was looking for. That sounds like a good combo to me. I won't have any valve/piston clearence issues? Does that cam have a wide power band? How long does the combo take to get from time of order?

not trying to hijack your thread here.............

If the TSP package doesnt fit your needs I have a set of MTI LS6 stage 2e's and a X1 cam (230/227/112). PM me and I'll give you a great price. The heads a TWO mths old and the cam has 4500K on it. This combo made 448rwhp on an 01 Z06 w/ normal bolt ons. Good luck in your choices as there are many out there.

The setup has no p/v issues & makes great power across the board. The combo is in stock & ready to go, and it uses our new aggressive lobe series so it makes great power from mid range all the way up to top end hp

Man that car is only 3000#??

I dont know if this would help. But maybe you should look into Rapid's dominator package. 500hp at the wheel. I have seen a camaro with this package on and boy is it nasty.

Honestly this is one of the nicest packages I have ever seen for under 2500 bucks. You get compression, a large cam with nice specs and everything needed for the install for 2 grand is awsome.

I know you said it was a off road applaciation, and therefore I will also suggest a larger torque converter if your staying NA.

You wont find a better package for 2,000 then the one above period, but at the same time dont expect much more then 410HP.
460 I can see through the M6, but you will have a large loss of power through the A3, big verter, 12 bolt etc. You will at the same time however run a faster time.

If you have a budget to spend it would help us provide other choices as well.
