Default dyno oil vs synthetic after H/C swap

I was told by a guy at one of the speed shops on our board who I will keep nameless that once I put in my new TEA heads and Futral cam in, I shouldn't use synthetic oil anymore that I should go back to regular oil. Any truth to this??????????????????????

Synthetic here after the H/C swap, no oil burning or any other issues.

Uh, was this after Friday Happy Hour?!!!

If you have a flame suit for your speed guy, post your question on bobistheoilguy forum at http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi

But seriously, there is no mechanical or lubrication reason to move away from a synthetic, unless one was ONLY comparing the least quality synthetic to the best available dino oil.

That being said, some dino oils perform very well, providing all the lubrication and protection most drivers need for drain intervals up to 5000 miles. If you are not going for extended drain intervals, and wish to save money, you might choose a dino oil.

For the inquisitive reader, the forum members at bobistheoilguy have done oil analysis of practically every oil and have a wealth of information to guide anyone.

But don't change from a synthetic to a dino oil on a performance car simply on the advice of one sponsor and without some kind of supporting test or analysis.

Oh, and BTW: I use Redline in my CETA. You can see the Redline demo here:

maybe this is true for a flat tappet cam but not the LS1/LS6 roller engine.
