Question FMS Cam and Kook Headers - Question?

If I went with an FMS cam, would I have any problems utilizing the stock LS6 heads on this setup? Which Cam would I want to go with? I looked at something steep like an F11 228/230 112 or 114 LSA, but not too sure what I should look towards if i'm able to keep the LS6 heads.

If I coupled this setup with a set of kook headers and a tune what sort of numbers could I possibly expect? I dyno 365/350 through full exhaust (stock manifolds, cats and y-pipe) with magnaflow catback.

Thanks for the info! This is a very helpful board!

With LS6 heads, Kooks headers, and the F11, I'd say 420rwhp+.

So you don't see any problems with the LS6 heads being matched with the F11? I know a lot of people say make sure the heads match the cam and I really don't see any documentation about how to make these two are compatible. I'd probably have to talk with FMS about that and see what they suggest. I was just curious if anyone on here had a technical bit to throw in.

The F11 just seems to be a very popular cam with good amounts of power to be had. Of course I see the ubiquitous 224 cam being suggested in almost every "what-is-a-good-cam?" thread. I am just looking for something that will produce a little more power (perhaps more than a 224) and allow me to maintain the ws6 as a daily driver.

i just talked to Candy @ FMS about gettin an F14 on a 112+2, and I told her about my plans to get stg2 ls6 heads in the future, and her main reaction was "yea, those heads are hard to beat when well ported." she thought they would work great with that cam. i suggest you call and talk to them about your setup, but i have a feelin it will work just fine.

sounds pretty good then. I was worried i'd be dishing out 2500 for a new set of heads but several people told me the ls6 heads flow fairly well.

If you have true 243 casting LS6, then just send them to TEA for a Stage 1.5 job and you won't be dissapointed. IMO.

i had an f11 cam only setup w/ mac mids and made 388rwhp in an auto so you should make real good power w/ stock LS6 heads. Over 400rw id bet for sure and way better w/ a good set of aftermarket ones

I'm thinking of doing an offroad y-pipe but not sure if I can tolerate the noise as a daily driver. Does anyone speculate how much gain would be acquired by doing this? or is it not worth it?

With high flow cats the power loss is negligeable. I put cats back on because of the rasp.
