well i know i can find someone that will pass it, but i really don't wanna be doing that every 2 years. so if i can find a cam that will pass smog without sacrificing too much hp/tq, then i'd do it. it's pretty much the ASA cam versus the one i mentioned in my 1st post. don't know if i'd be giving up too much hp or gain hp.

tr 224

i think there should be a giant sticky in this forum that says:
"if u want a street/track, power/torque, gasmileage/smog cam then get a tr224"
cuz half the threads in this forum have "get the tr224" in them

I read on another Camaro/LS1 website that someone in Our Smog **** State of Cali, passed with a tr224. So I would say go with the tr224.

222/230 is not 224/224. look at the exhaust duration...you'd be letting a lot more exhaust out. the 224 has an overlap of -4*, and the cam you are looking at has an overlap of -2*. the lower the number, the better for emissions. so call up some shops in cali and see what they have gotten to pass smog.

My budy just passed in Sacramento CA area with a hot cam on a 6spd I think it is 218/228 525/525 112lsa he passed with flying colors.By the way what brand and part # is the 222/230 .534/.544 114 lsa Thats looks good to me too, I think it would pass with a good tune. One more thing my budies car also passed in the bayarea with same cam.

The 222/230 might pass smog, but only with one hell of a tune. I'd get something a little smaller just to be safe. Also, when people say that their car passed with so and so cam, dont always go out and get the same cam, because not all cars are the same, and not all smog places get the same numbers.

Many people have had good smog luck with the TR224 114, including myself.

it's a lunati cam and the part # is 55006 at SDPC. it seems like a good cam too thats kinda why i wanted to go with it. I needa do more hwk and make sure it will pass. thanks for the input so far

I was looking at that cam, and instead went with the Lunati 55009 which has a duration 242* but instead of the 112 LSA, they custom ground it to 114. I hope when this is finally in my car adn tuned I can pass too
