G5x4
I have been thinking about one of the bigger cams, and really thinking about the g5x3 or g5x4. My car is an '01 SS A4 with all of the usual bolt-ons, 3:73's, and a PT4000. One question is are there any G5x4 daily drivers? And what else should I do before a big cam? Ported oil pump, hardened rod bolts, or anything else?

There are X4 daily drivers, I will be one, had a mix up and my cam got sent back to LG on accident, just waiting for it to come back to install it. And with an A4 I would go with an X2 of X3 at max, X4 would probably be too much for a daily driven A4 car. Just do the springs, retainers, pushrods and if you want a timing chain and oil pump, rod bolts aren't neccessary but if you want to it's up to you.

The X4 makes more power, seen it on a friends car, no problem. 01-Z says at least 10 rwhp and 10 rwtq EVERYWHERE ocer the X3, my friend says more than that under the curve, but who knows, I will sooner or later

get some if you dont already have them or the DR's also or the power will be useless

You are going to get good at changing springs with this cam Good luck and you know I believe it is too big for street driven, but that is me.

Yeah I don't care about the springs, we'll see how long they last, I have the 921's now, so I'm set there. I will have it tuned perfectly, no worries there. If I don't like it I will dump it, no biggie. I don't care about traction either, I don't race on the street, ET streets at the track so I'm set there.
And Todd, yeah, stock cam is too big for you on the street j/k bro!

i think its funny when people believe that a .600-.620 lift cam is a race cam. a race cam is .750 lift we all started out with around .500 lift. this is not a mustang, this is not a small cubic inch turd. this is an LS1 with great flowing heads and when a cam is put on with 240 duration with .600 lift, that is ONLY a 20% increase.
its all about who wants to win.

I was told by matt @ lg that the g5X4 is very very very close on clearence. I asked him about the x3 on a 112 and he said it will fit but dont miss a shift and he told me the x4 had less clearence . I dont want to pull my heads to cut reliefs , Oh well.
