Default Starter Problem!!

I just put an LS1 in a 65 Chevelle and i cant the starter to turn over.
I have all the wiring hooked up and the computer.

The stock starter for the 65 has 3 wires: 1) big wire from the battery and 2 little wires to go to 2 little posts.

Now for the ls1 starter i put the big wire from the battery on the big post and there is only one little post, so i tried both of the little wires and i get nothing???

Is there something im forgetting???

Thanks

Are you getting 12 volts to the solenoid?

You can jumper the solenoid lead to test the unit.

Just make sure the car is secure and in neutral. You can kill youself pretty
easily otherwise

What you need to do is trace the wiring back, very simple.
One of the two small wires comes from the ign switch, crank power, the other is a resistance by pass to increase voltage to your ign. coil in the crank mode.
Simply have somebody hold the ign switch in the crank position while you probe the two small wires, one will have power, hook that to the term. marked "s" on the solenoid, To your left looking at the back of the solenoid, the other wire goes to the "r" term (to your right) for full ign
. voltage on cranking (bypass)
As noted above, make sure you have the trans. out of gear & exercise caution while you are doing this.
