Stock Rod or aftermarket
For all of you that have not been following the Absolute Speed saga. I got a short block from Jay with some questionable pistons. I have ordered a set of Diamonds and a new set of rings. The shortblock has about 10,000 miles on it and it is a 2000.
I will be running a set of TEA 5.3's, 230-230 110 lsa with .597 lift. 90mm lsx and a set of custom 1 1/3 to 1 7/8 step headers, no cats. Compression is set at 11:1. Motor is in a 69 Camaro with an M6. I have a nitous wet shot (t-n-t) WIll not run more than about a 150 shot. Stock crank
My question is: can I use the stock rods with good bolts or should I get a set of aftermarket rods? My 69 will is built for more of a road race set up and will not see the strip more than 4 times a year and probably about the same at an open track event. The above combo will probably make about 450 at the rear wheels before the shot. I do not plan on being a heavy nitrous user...but I am sure everyone says that.
Any help or reccomendations will be appreciated...or a trusted engine builder that I can call.

Aftermarket Rods
I would definitely upgrade your rods and another option would be the new Compstar H-beam . It is also an ls1 specific design and has a lot of little features that make it a pretty good rod . It is a chinese forging that is machined and inspected by Callies . Both the Crower and the Compstar are great affordable alternatives to those looking for an ls1 specific rod and don't have a grand to spend . If you road race you definintely want a strong rod .
