Default well cam is in and.....

awsome feeling over the 198 207 500 500 115.5. the cam is 223 225 564 571 114+3, i have a stock converter restalled to 2500 and it pulls great from start to finish 6600 rpms and this is in a 4400 truck with a 5.3 with boltons. the idle is great since i can adjust the idle the bbk better then a stock t/b, it idles at 700 rpms and still only showing .04 percent on the throttle positon.

hopefully new times on the 24th of april.

Out of curiosity, what did it cost you to get your converter restalled? Please include the removal, converter work and reinstallation. Is there any downside to getting a stock converter restalled? Thanks!

i bought the converter used for 200 bucks, and me and 02denali put it in. i've asked around and the price for install is like 250 to 300 bucks, i believe the restall was like 200bucks. driveing temps in 80 degree weather running at 80 to 85 mph on the hwy. is 160 degrees in cold weather i've seen them as low as 113 this is with a b&m trans cooler, when i take off it goes to 1500 before i move mabe alittle less. Down sides i havent seen any.

You can't compare a converter R&R in a F-body to a Vette either. Tons more labor on a Vette.

Actually, not a bad comparison. I was quoted $300 labor for a torque converter changeout from Doug Rippie Motorsports (DRM) this afternoon. Not very different, labor-wise, afterall. Thanks for the info back. I hadn't heard of anyone re-stalling a stock convertor before now. I was thinking it may be a way to save a few bucks, if it would hold up.

personally i'd still get an aftermarket just for the quality of the part and the warranty. a restalled stock converter is still a stock converter.
