Question SLP vs. Manley valve springs?

Anyone know if they are the same exact valve spings? I had SLP's put in a couple years ago. I broke one and then called SLP for a replacement. They claimed to stop making them and are now selling Manley springs. I ordered Manley through another site that sold them cheaper and they sure as hell look identical to the SLP ones that were in my car. The specs appear to be the same too. It would suck if I was just putting the same springs into the car that keep breaking.

Also, do you need to drill out the heads at all if you use dual springs or will they still fit?

I never knew SLP made a spring I thought they just used stock GM stuff from LS6 and what not. Manley is a pretty good company and I think youll be alright. As far as doubles check with the maufacturer or whoever your buying them from if you need to machine the heads, it all depends. Im not sure if the Manleys need to have the heads machined. Or just go buy some Comp 918s they are pretty economical and popular on cam and spring upgrades. Good Luck

Oly a few companies actually make springs. I beleive the major one is in Florida. They resell to most of the shops that inturn sell to us.
Manley may spec something out different than PRC or SLP or...? but manufacturing of springs is very limited.

If you are breaking springs on a reg. bases the you have something going on in the valve train you need to find out why this is happening.Valve bounce, harmonics wrong spring for the cam.

Not really a regular basis. I have broken 2 since Feb 2003. Which is probably about 40k miles worth of driving.

Daily driver. It's only been to the track once since everything was done. But it is also driven hard daily too.

I broke a Manley spring after about 12,000 miles. This only included about 12 passes at the track and relatively sedate driving. I'm using 918s now as the Manley's didn't impress me too much.

AFR heads and dual springs will be installed before I get to 12k on the 918s.
