Oil Pump O Ring - Where does it go ??
OK It's a dumb question, but I built a new motor from parts and have never seen a factory install. Does the O ring go around the step in the tube right up against the flange, and then seat in the 45 degree chamfer at the edge of the oil pump hole. I tried that on the engine stand and it crushes the O ring down, but you can still see the edge of it.
OR, does it go down in the hole, around the tube, and the step holds it down?? I can post pictures if this isn't clear, because it sure isn't clear to me!! Thanks to anyone that can help

"Find your oil pump pickup tube O-ring, it may be brown or blue in color. It will either be inside the opening of your stock oil pump, or it'll still be on the snout of the pickup tube. If it was inside the oil pump, remove it and place it on the snout of the pickup tube...just seat it on there, don't force it down any more than it wants to go naturally."

If you can see this picture, I put the O ring all the way up on the step. This is where it would seat on the 45 degree chamfer inside the oil pump.
From what I am reading, this is not right??
