Suggestions on heads and cam
Im looking to purchase a set of heads and a cam with a new valvetrain as well. i was wondering what you guys recommended for the most power but still very comfortable to drive everyday. I was thinkning about the AFR head with a comp cam. with the dual valve springs and hardened pushrods and new lifters and titanium retainers new keepers seats etc. from comp cams. or should i just buy a set of assembled heads from AFR? I will get timing chain and new oil pump also. Which AFR heads do you think i should go with i want 11.25 :1 CR . This will work on pump gas ive heard. also any cam specs you recommend also would be great!! Thanks.

I dont want it to be stalling or anything on the street. and I want decent gas milage. So that is what I mean by comfortable. More like what would be reasonable for dailt driven and reasonable on parts and valvetrain as well as not no low end torque.

Any aftermarket cam (besides LS6, hotcam or ASA) will be harder on springs than stock and require maintence as a result. You can get a very large cam tuned so it won't stall. My MS3 hunts for idle if I stop in gear the first few minutes or so after a cold start, and has very minor bucking from time to time if I try to cruise right at the converter lockup speed in OD. Both of those are very easy to deal with and other than that it's flawless. If you can handle that you can handle just about any cam out there.
What tranny?

The best 4L60E you can buy, AFAIK would be a Rossler. Look to spend $3k+. The FLP level 4 is pretty nice at $2k, and ls1 speed carries the Dr. Evil line of trannies ranging from $1,300-$2,000. There are other companies/shops/sponsors that build decent transmissions as well. Pro built is one I believe.
Oh yeah, the reason I asked which tranny you had was because you will want a torque converter with the cam. The larger the cam (higher powerband) the larger stall you will want. Absolute minimum will probably be 3200-3500 range.

I have a Vig 3200 stall now which im very happy with but once i put in the converter, shift kit and put slicks on it i lost 7 mph and 3 tenths in quarter and i also upped my nitrous to 150 from 100 shot (dry nos). Any reasons you may think of? One i think of for the mph is that with the 26" slick prolly about 27" on the move from expanding drops my gears ratio to a 3.11 or something from my stock 3.42 what do you think? should i go with a 3.73?
