Do you take that bump out of the exaust by the header side in front of the valve guide a few cm's? Also how big do you make the intake runners? how wide?

Be careful on the small bump in the roof of the exhaust port. That is there for water jacket clearance so only blend it into the roof:

That cut-away view is very useful . . . makes it easy to visualize what needs to be done. You're a nice guy for sharing, Bo!

Where did you get your porting kit? I was thinking I might do a port job. I use to do them on motorcycles but not a LS1. Do you have a write up on where to remove and how much?

Thanks.

Bill

Default 4.00" STROKER (383) with STOCK HEADS.

I think our stock LS1 heads flow enough air as is. Ultimatly all we need is a 4.00" crankshaft. My 347 makes good power and will rev very easily to 7000 with just a cam (224/228 112lsa, 108cl) and headers. What our cars need more of is "midrange torque" for acceleration. So while my engine is apart I will just clean up and smooth area under the valves and perform a good quality valve job. I will put off buying higher flowing heads for now and take advantage of the midrange torque the 4.00" kit will give me.
