Default cams question?

I am planning to buy cams for my 98 z28, but I need to know an average on how much will I be spending.I also heard that I can buy a cam for under $400
but what is expensive is installation and tunning. Can someone give me some information on putting cams on price and best bang for the buck. Thanks

I paid $800 for my cam and to have it installed. A tune will only cost you $450.00 for the good ****, a basic tune would be cheaper but trust me you don't want that.

My cam swap with dual spring kit, pushrods, ported LS6 oil pump, rollmaster double timing chain and dyno tune (self install) cost me roughly $1,350. Labor would have been $400-$600 from a shop.

Contact thunder racing which is one of the sponsors. They have a cam sale going on right now and you can get the T-Rex which is a real badass cam for about 395.00 or less. They do dyno tunning to.

SEARCH. Idle speed, air/fuel ratio, timing............big cam will run like **** until tuned. Tuning gets the power potential as well.

You need to do a lot of searching, read the stickies in the internal section and the new enthusiast section, and read the links in JRP's sig. There are just too many variables until you know more about what you want.

I'll have about $1400 tied up in my 224 which includes:

7.4" pushrods, LS6 oil pump, ASP underdrive pulley w/belts, 618 springs, titanium retainers, custom 224 grind cam, JWIS timing chain, install, and WB tuning.
