i would say anywhere from 3000-3600 stall should work out well-from what I read even for a DD Application.I thought of this setup before but plan to go with a 6 speed tranny conversion,so I will decide my cam after possibly the G1 not sure tho

I would go with the Yank SS3600 and 3.73 gears.

VIG 3200 or similar, just make sure the verter you choose has shift extentions that matches you cam powerband

hes talking about shift extension(ie where the converter drops you back down to in the powerband) as far as shift points go on my 2-3 with stock tuning I would hit hte limiter when i put my 3500 stall in...tuning for at least shift points is a very good idea with a larger converter.

3.73's/4.10's will do nothing but help you burn your gas faster. 3.23's are fine. go no less than a 3500. My 3800 is perfectly streetable.

Question

Why not call Precision Industries and get a qualified answer?

They are top shelf people to deal with.

Tuning is a must for A4's witha verter or cam alone! if your gonna get heads and dont want to tune till you get them-then dont install the cam-just do a verter cuz you dont need to really tune as much-jsut a PCM tune where as a cam will need some A/F ratio changes, timing etc. Wait to install the cam till when you get the heads-otherwise dont install them at all if you want to save for a tune

02WS6BIRD's post was rather difficult to follow. Had to read twice. What he is saying is that a converter needs a "basic tune". (Mess with torque management and shift points) A cam needs a full dyno tune, as do heads. If you are planning converter and cam now but heads in a little while do the converter with basic tune now and wait to do the heads/cam at the same time and have it dyno tuned then. Or something like that..

What are the specs on the G1? Basically, you should always get a converter before a cam, for many reasons.
