Default Anyone ever heard of a 4,7, timing swap?

I know a guy who runs brackets and he is running an S10 with a small iron block 427 that did a 4-7 timing swap and was suppose to yeild a gain of 50hp or so. I guess the swap is ground into the cam. Is this possible with the LS1 motor...? This guy pulled a 673 to the wheels through a powerglide nine inch.

Just seeing if anyone has heard of this...

yes,but gains of 50 hp are questionable.one of the car magazines tested this theory a while back and found no gains.it doesn't apply to the ls1 because of the different firing order.

i also know a guy who swapped firing orders on a 427 sbc and the only thing he changed was the order.... no tune up afterwards or nothing.... and he picked up .05 in the 1/8th ..... he was running 6.00 now its about a 5.95 to 5.90

I've read an advertisement for that cam. I read that ad over and over thinking about the dynamics involved. The grinds they had available were all tilted towards high rpm use. I'm not sure if it would have benefits with the Ls1 like it MIGHT have on the first gen since the firing orders are different. The LS1 is smoother than the earlier small blocks I've had. I think the LS1's firing order is pretty much perfect for a V-8.

It works OK on SBC and BBC motors. The LS1 already has the swap.

In full **** BBC 500incher your going to see around 18HP. I have done several of these for Late Model stock circle track limited engines and for 4HP those guys will spend 400 dollars.

Yeah the LS1 firing order is 18476532, where as Gen I/II engines are 18436572. We already have that advantage

i have the 4 7 swap on my street/strip 3rd gen but haven't gotten a chance to get to the strip since rebuild and new cam but i'd say 10 hp tops if any over a regular firing order cam.the manufacturer told me it helped with harmonics mainly to smooth out the vibes and help your crank live a longer life.my crank is a stock cast 3.75 so i said why not and got one.
