Unhappy 232/228 .595 .588 112????

Has anyone used a cam like this before? I ordered a cam a few weeks ago with specs 228/228 .588 .588 112. So I finally recieved it in the mail today and I look at the cam card and it says 232/228 .595 .588 112....???? I think im gonna stick with it, cause im sure I would want something bigger anyways. What are your opinions on a cam like this?

Thanks

Anthony

You'll most likely make more power with the cam you got than the one you ordered. Just get it tuned right and get ready to fly!

I have that same cam and I made 366rwhp and 365rwtq with a LS1 intake and stock pulley and TB.

I assume it's a Comp XER grind, keep it, it will probably give you another 5+ RWHP.

where did you get it from? imho think you'd be better off with a split duration cam instead of a reverse split. Our cars really like that. I have the F10 which is what you originally wanted and I want to move up to the F13( 230"/232" .595"/.585" 112) or f14 (232"/234" .598"/.598" 112)

You can't make a blanket statement like that. Some cars work better with reverse splits that others. A free flowing exhaust will make a reverse split excel. In his case, the extra 4 degrees of intake duration will make him more power.

your right. but i said in my opinion. from what ive seen, either standard or spilts put down really good numbers and make good power under the curve. I have also seen reverse splits do the same. Im sure you went with a standard split because of you spray right or do you plan on adding a SC or Turbo?

Isnt that a little low for an M6? The original cam the TSP 228R is what I ordered. I have seen those make 380-410 rwhp. I was really hoping this one would make a little more...

None yet... I was thinking about a 125 dry shot in the future depending on how I like additional power from the cam.

with the f10 on a 114, lid, ls6 intake, p/p TB, spec3, stock 10 bolt, lca's, adj. phb, !egr/air, mti lid, LTs and true duals i put down 377/371 tuned by sean freese at fastech. While the numbers are a bit on the low side to me, people say they're good. I since then have put the asp pulley and found out that the intake didnt have any oring gaskets so i fixed that problem as well. The f13 should give me a 20hp or so gain as would the f14, maybe another 5.

for some reason, i just dont really like the 228 anymore. I see the 224 put down better numbers which says bigger isnt always better. You should be happy with a 125 shot for a little while. If your that worried about it, then you should send it back and get what you really want or you'll really regret it later. Take your time with it. You can always setup an install. Hope it helps.

Your cam has very close specs to SLP's 383 stroker cam. SLP also uses that same cam with one of their 346 engine combo's with ported heads.

Tony Mamo of AFR will be building and testing a new 383 engine using 205 heads and a cam very close to your specs for his Corvette.

You have a good cam!
