Default Some porting photos for your DIYers

These are 317 castings. Shows how to start cleaning up the castings around the valve guides and how to safely remove the bolt boss in the intake runner. These are not finished but are a good indication on how to begin.

Not Bad. I'm not crazy about taking out the intake bolt boss. I'm doing my own heads also and taking my time. I'm also saving alot of money because the local shops wanted between $750 - $800 for just a street/strip port that doesn't even take out casting marks. And this is on brand new LS6 castings. I bought 2 used valves, a Standard Abrasives kit, 2 Electric Die Grinders ($29.99 each). Also, there is a very nice Do-It-Yourself Guide at www.sa-motorsports.com .

Thats what I'm talking about. I'm a do it yourselfer. The more $$ I save the more mods I can do.

I dont believe the threads that are in the bosses are even touched by the bolts, so why not shave em off.........?

nice

Definately take the rocker boss out, all work done on the outside wall is null and void if ya dont. That is were the high end swirl comes from in pro ported heads is the work done on the outside wall.
