Tuner/Programmer for rent?
No one around my area has any type of LS1 tuner/programmer, I would like to be able to "rent" one because it is hard for me to justify $500 on a daily driver tune-up, however I would be willing to pay $50 or so to have someone ship me their tuner (id give them a credit card number or something for collateral) and then tune my car and send it back, anyone know of anyone who does this? Maybe even just another forum member?

I'd look in the the regional forums. It's probably gonna cost you more than $50 for a custom tune no matter who does it. Nobody's gonna want to send you anything, because it's gonna take you a while to figure out what you're doing (assuming you don't know how). BTW, the custom tuners are a laptop running the tuning software.

good luck finding that.
You would have a better chance if you post where your from, and what kind of car you drive, there might be a local who could help.
I certainly would not for a stranger and $50, no offence, but if you were a local, i would help out, if i could.

If you have the money for a $550 deposit, you might as well invest in your own software. tuning doesn't happen overnight. I wasted $400 on a "professional tune" only to have to shell out the $500 for my own software to get it right.
tuning software is a wise investment for your ls1

Everyone above is quite correct. I wouldnt let my tuner out of my sight. The risks arent limited to losing the cable either. What if you didnt know what you were doing and programmed in a real lean tune and put holes in your pistons or otherwise toasted your motor. You could have a potential law suit because you were using my software / cable. Now again, like the other said, if you were a local car club member or just someone local to me, i could find an hour or two to get a basic tune down for you. Chances are i could do it for free if it was just a simple tune, although i could always go for burger king
