Default Unigue question for Patman and co.

This week I will be going up to Dallas to pick up my new (new to me) 02 Z28. It currently has 3300 miles on the clock and was owned by an older man who drove the car for about 30-45 minutes every 2 weeks to keep the fluids movin'. The oil was changed once in its life at about 2000 miles. The current oil is some type of dino oil, I believe penzoil. I obviously want to get the good stuff in there as quickly as possible, but what do you reccomend in this situation? I was thinking of putting some castrol 5w30 dino in there for a 3k interval and then switching to the 0w30 german castrol once the motor is closer to broken in. Its really rare to find a car 3 years old with such low miles so Im at a loss for what to do here. Help!

Alot of the 02 LS1's including Fbody's came from the factory with Mobil 1 in the crankcase. If your planning on running GC 0W-30 then I would not hesitate to throw it in. Modern piston rings don't require dino oil for proper break in.
