TR224, stage 1 heads and manifolds
Interested in thoughts on Stage 1 Head with TR 224, 114 and stock manifolds.
Is this a good cam for this setup or is a Stealth MTI II cam a better choice?
Projected power?
Other mods include, LS6 intake, ASP crank pulley, ported TB, cutout, lid. 6 speed car.Long tubes are about a year away.
PS. I have searched for days, but would like opinions on this setup.

With stock manifolds, the TR224 is about as big as you can go before you start going backwards in power development. Why? Because more overlap works against further power gains. The TR224 cam has around 0 degrees of overlap at .050". If you stuck in something like a G5X3, the motor would be a turd because of all the reversion into the intake since the log manifolds can't evacuate the charge fast enough, nor are they tuned to suck out the exhaust like a long tube header.
If you did not have plans on running headers in the future, you'd probably be happier with a cam designed around running manifolds like a Thunder Racing CheaTR cam. But if headers are in your future, you can certainly get by with a TR224 and stock exhaust.

The Stealth II has -10 degrees of overlap at .050.
Choosing one over the other is a matter of preference IMO.
Also I do not know wehere pesticide lives, but the stealth will pass emissions much more easily, another factor to keep in mind.

Thanks Patrick and Predator. You guys seem to be the true experts for these cams. It was reading Patricks CheaTR results that really got me thinking. We have emission where I live (Canada), both sniffer and rolling so that is something I will really have to consider.

If you do heads, dont waste your time on a stage one port job. I say splurge on the heads as much as your funds will let you. Heads are one of thoes things that once I change em, I dont want to take em off to upgrade.

Difference between the two is the exhaust valve.

I wouldn't buy anything from Agostino Racing Engines, even if you gave me your money to do it.
