I am running the NPG+ along with the Evans WP. Car stays a little cooler....but really haven't noticed a difference. To me...was worth the extra money.

I'm running it in my 346 with Hypertech 160 thermostat and stock water pump. Car used to run 175-180 degrees with Dexcool, now it runs 195-205, even on the highway. Guess it doesn't transfer heat as well as anti freeze or water, but the boiling point is really high and the Evans is supposed to eliminate hot spots that can cause detonation. It was a $100 experiment for me and the jury's still out on the benefits.

Default Evans coolant

I have worked with Evans coolant for years. We used the stuff in the eighties in desert racing engines. The stuff is awesome as far as keeping engines together with coolant temps that would normally fry an engine with regular antifreeze water mix.

We ran some desert races with 300 + coolant temp with no damage to the heads or block. Got up to 375 degrees last year in a short course race when my buddy forgot to turn on the radiator fans after a roll over. No cylinder wall scuffing. Put in new rings, bearings and valve springs and it's back racing.

A couple of things with Evans you should be aware of. The cooling system must be completely dry. In other words, no left over water or anti freeze must be in the system. The Evans is used 100%. It is a bit difficult to get the system full because it is more viscous than water with anti freeze. You can run with a seven pound radiator cap which will take a load off the hoses.

Aside from the stated cooling benefits, from the website:
  • It's not H2O, so nothing corrodes.
  • It's supposed to last forever...doesn't need changing...ever.

Thanks for that Steve.... It's good to hear intelligent responses to the question.

You need Iron to rust.... So how do you do that with Aluminum?
