Default Which heads will work best for me?

I have the mods in sig going in now...looking into heads but I will have to stay with used ones if I can do it. It will depend on if I have to buy pistons or not. It involves a few different heads, 5.3/ls1/6.0, so just what you think you would do because I really don't know much about it. I know I don't have all the info on them but tell me what you need to know to make a better decision...

Absolute Speed 6.0 heads ($1350, new, milled, bought and never used)
valves (? size)
dual springs
titanium retainers
fully ported
said to flow 314 @ .600

MTI Stage 2E heads ($1050, used all the way around)
2.02 1.56 valves
? springs
? retainers
? porting
said to flow 277/218 @ .600

TEA Stage 1 5.3L Heads ($800 used, new valves, springs, retainers though)
2.02 / 1.55 valves
918 springs
titanium reatainers
? porting
? flow

That's it for now. Please help in osting your input b/c I have no idea.

Thanks alot guys,
Byron Taylor

BTW the cam is .538/.538, 228/228, 114 lsa

I just ordered a set of PRC stage 2.5, 5.3L (2.04 int/ 1.585 exht)
I have seen 310 cfm/.600 and 226 cfm/.600 (int/exht flow) independent testing.

$1400 on sale (no core, new castings) till end of June. TSP>>>>>sponsor

Mid lift flows are really good. I'm waiting for the set and I'll post results after install.

When it comes to used heads, IMO I would send them back for refreshing. Which cost money.
Absolute Speed heads were good, but they went under, so if you have a problem, there is no garantee.

So IMO, PRC are a really good bang for the buck right now.

ok thanks, i am leaning towards the Absolute Speed though for now with them being new and all. Or the TEA 5.3, since they have been "refreshed"

heres some flow numbers on the stage 2.5 heads:
Intake on a 2.04" valve
.300 210
.400 252
.500 286
.550 295
.600 306

Predator-Z, let us know how your heads work out for you!!

If the choice was mine, I would go with a new set of PRC's or TEA heads. My reason isn't that any of the heads you have listed above aren't suitable for your application, but that you are paying so much for used product.

Predator-Z is right. You should have any used head checked after you buy it. It should be cleaned, pressure tested and have the springs tested at a minimum. If everything is perfect then you may have found a deal. Take your used $1050 MTI heads and ship them to you (from the seller) and then back and forth to MTI for checking, you have $150 is shipping just to have the heads checked...guess what, you're at $1200 and you don't even know if you have something usable or not. What if MTI finds a bad spring? $200 later (for new springs) you're going to find out it was cheaper to buy a new set of TEA or PRC heads. How about if they need to be milled 0.005 to true them up? What if they need seals, guides or seats? See what I mean.

Good luck which ever route you go. If I had to pick one of the sets from your list...I'd go with the Stage 1 TEA heads.
