Default 6.0 Lq9, 345hp Motor Questions

hey guys i am new at this and am learing alot listening and reading what you guys post . thanks

My question is i picked p this 6.0 Escalade motor for nothing pretty much through some trading . i want to put it in a 69 camaro , one of our many ongoing projects . can i add a camshaft to it and ported 5.3 heads and a ls6 intake to it . if so how will it run ? or should i use the stock heads , cam it and use a ls6 intake . i am just looking for a decent running ls1 based motor in it . it wil be 6 speed .

what are my other options if this is not recomended ?

The truck intake flows pretty damn well, even though it's big and ugly. Heads/cam will make the extra displacement noticeable. What computer system will you use on this project?

There is the conversion/hybrid forum also

the 5.3 heads will raise your compression to almost 11:1. the 6.0 heads as they are flow pretty well, as does the intake like joey said. some boltons and just a cam will put down 400 rw pretty easy.

the 6.0 heads will flow much better, the stock heads flow rate on intake is max out around .555, the exhaust is max out around .535, with just a little machine work and some larger valves the numbers are much higher for running a larger cam.
un fortunately the 5.3 heads flow is much lower but the compression is raised due to the smaller CC chamber.
you can get the 6.0 heads shaved down to increase compression, it will not be equal to the 5.3 but it will not be that far off.

so what cam would you guys run ? and the LS6 intake will bolt down right ?

just cam , valve springs and intake how would it run? is the timing chain and oil pump the same as a LS1?

who could i call to get all the right parts to finish this motor for the car ? thanks for some answers !!!!!!!!

oh yeah how much would you shave from the heads to bring the compression up to what ? what is stock compression anyways.

the machine shop will have to check out the heads to see how much can be shaved off with out harming the heads, as no set of heads are really the same it is possible that more may be shaved off of one head then the other to make the compression ratio equal on all cylinders and only be off by just a 0.1.

You can go with a larger cam due to the extra displacement. Do you want more low-end torque, or top end pull? That determines a lot. Personally, I would run a G5X2, G5X3, or HPE 'S' cam in that motor. Dual valve springs are a must for any cam worth putting in that motor...go with Comp Cams 921's. The Ls6 intake shouldn't have any problems bolting up. Any problems you would have would be computer-related and I don't know too much about that.

I know this is an old site but trying to pull up some info. I just bought an 06 SS silverado. it has the 6.0 345hp motor. I want to get more performance out of it without much driveability issues. Ive decided to go with the typical bolt ons (headers, exhaust, cold air intake, pcm tuner) and cam swap with springs. Is the G5X-2 too big a cam for a dailer driver? If not can you just install the cam and springs and not worry about valve clearnce issues? how will it run with the truck intake? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Get a cam from www.rapidmotorsports.com right here in PA. Mikey can tune it too...
Intake is good...maybe some headers and ported 6.0L heads. and you should break 400hp easy.
