Default installed brand new heads, valvetrain noise has developed over time

They are Patriot LS6 stage II heads. I bought them brand new as complete units and used my stock rockers. when i first put them on, i didnt notice any noise, but over time, it has grown progressively worse and is now starting to worry me. the noise occurs in this fashion. when i am just cruising, and decide to give it some more gas, i can hear it very loud for a few seconds, then it stops. its like a ticking noise, sounds like when youre running on bad/watered down gas but much louder. when i take off from a stop sign, or just anytime the car is under load, it does it. After reading some posts it sounds like a bent pushrod would make the noise, but if thats the case, then all of my rods are bent because it is a very frequent tick, not like its coming from just one cylinder, know what I am saying? what can i do to stop this? when I installed the heads, I torqued the rocker bolts down to the right torque, as per ls1howto.com. but when I torqued them down, I didnt rotate the engine to close each valve before torquing them down (my mechanic told me i wouldnt need to). Do they just need to be adjusted or what? any advice would be appreciated.

edit: btw, i have read that ls1's are typical of having valvetrain noise, but this is just too loud for me to believe that its "normal", engine temp doesnt affect the noise, and I can hear it even with my windows up and the radio at a low volume. its embarrassing when i drive down the road.

Pull your valvecovers and look at the valve tips.. they could be mushrooming. That's the reason Patriot recalled some heads and I've had a couple of sets of heads that I've installed come back for that very reason. Check them now, before one of them drops and kills your shortblock.

Yes. The tip of the valve will be out of shape, deformed..."mushroomed"
