Default T-Rex or G5X4 on daily driver??

Anyone have one of these cams on a daily driver? I want to do my bottom end first and get some gears before I get one of these cams so it'll be a little while before I was to actually get one. Should I invest in something small and cheap to drive around instead of running one of these cams in my daily driven car? Also, is there anyone here in Cali running one of these cams?

The T-rex is decidedly bigger than just about anything else out there for stock cubes....most people don't know the size of the X4 but even it is not as big as the T-rex.

You couldnt pass cali sniffer test with a large cam, not even with a 228/228, or longtubes....

I'd vote against daily driving a T-rex unless you KNOW what you are getting into. I'd go with magic stick v.3 or G5X3-4 first. Big, but not HUGE.

If you can, drive or ride in a big cam car to see if it fits your definition of streetable. That said, I'd daily driver my T-Rex if I didn't travel long distances for work. Like if I had 30 min commute everyday or so, no problem for me. The cam drives nice even with my 3.42's, and no problems with braking.

Can you even put an airlid on your car in Cali anymore without the Fed's showing up???

I am planning on putting a T-rex in my z soon, although I am running a TH400. A nice 4000-4200 stall should work fine, from what I have been able to find.

X4 here, daily driven, just fine. Slight surging at low rpms, but expect it with large cams. Definitely want taller gears, 4.11's for M6 cars.

I'm not really worried about getting it smoged or anything. I have other routes I can go with, but I'm just worried about how it's going to feel driving the car around town. I don't travel too far in the car. Just to work (about 8 miles from my house) and to the gym (about a 10-15 minute drive). I kinda got the hang of the rough idle since I drove my car around for about 5-6 months w/out a tune. It would wanna die at every light, but I got the hang of it after a while.

Is the T-Rex really THAT much bigger than the X4? What are the specs of the magic stick v.3? Almost forgot, how are these cams on the bottle?

They like the bottle. Unless you are going huge shot, which I'm sure you won't (200 and above) you can spray just about any cam with good results. These are good though, with the longer exhaust duration. (traditional split) The MS3 is 237/242 .603/.609 113. We don't know what the X4 is, but the X2 is 232/240 on a 112 or 114, the X3 is bigger and then the X4....but I still doubt it's as large as the 242/248 on a 110 Trex. That **** has about 25 degrees of overlap at fifty thou. By comparison, my MS3 has 13.5* and lopes pretty dang hard. A TR224 on a 112 has 0* and has some lope. Get the picture?

lol yeah i get your point . I'll still have some time to think about what big cam I wanna get. I still gotta toss the stock 10 bolt too and I'll probably end up getting a 9".

There are people that daily drive both of these cams. It's all a matter of opinion when it comes to this. Your gas mileage is going to drop quite a bit with either cam though.

I sometimes wish i had gone with a bigger cam, not sure if i would go THAT big though. Problem is that you really have to rev the motor WAY up there to make all that power.
