Default Best way to install heads/cam

I am going to install some heads/cam, intake manifold, injectors on my 99 TA WS6. I was wondering what the best way to do it would be. There is really two choices for me

1) Disconnect everything, and take the engine out of the car and work on it. I have a cherry picker and engine stand, so this is a feasible option.

2) Leave the engine in and work around a bunch of ****.

What would be the best way to do it?

Thanks,
Justin

We left the engine in and it was not bad. I have heard it is easier to drop it out the bottom but have not done this.

I don't think anything needs to be added to what predator-z gave. That's what I used to do the oil pump and timing chain.

yep. ls1howto, i did that took me no time, did it alone and it was my first time, no issues at all. might just wanna put teflon thread sealant on the intake rockers to prevent oil leaking into the chamber

Oh i see. I thought I read somewhere where you were expecting 480rwhp. I was wondering what your plans were.

in the future i would like that for the max, 470-480 range, no considering 9 inch losses. that would have to be with 59cc heads and 90mm set up. allan futral told me those numbers should be achievable. i would prob only go 62cc heads and through a 9 inch ~450 rwhp would suit me well, maybe 460, either way its a lot faster than just bolt ons lol

Not wanting to hi-jack, but how long would one expect the install of a cam to take using the LS1Howto.com page?

i took my cam out and everything else off, put teh new cam in in about 8 hours on and off taking my time, first time i did it. plan on 3 days to be safe but you can do it faster if you stay on it, that is if you are mechaniclly inclined lol
