Talking Rod stud install on stock rods. How did you do it? How long has it lasted?

How many of you simply slapped em in your stock rods, did ARP's torque procedure and called it a day? How well has that method worked for you?

How many had their rod ends machined and or bought new bearings with the rod stud install?

I tried searching and i do know this is a controversial topic, but lets hear from those WHO HAVE ACTUALLY done it and hear their thoughts/comments/results. My new cam will make power to 7k and i dont feel safe above 6.5k on stock rod studs. thanks to all that help out!

I used the ARP Pro Series, just installed per ARP instructions, no machining or anything. Numerous trips to 7200 rpm and no problems so far (knock on wood). Revving this high on a stock shortblock is always a gamble, but I figure for the time and little money involved, it's cheap and I'll see how long it'll last. No way I'd do it on stock 98 rod bolts at all. Been going since last August.

This wasn't done and posted too much when I was researching it. Knowing what I know now, I would get the Katech's and give it a shot. They are supposed to be closer to the weight of the stock bolts than the ARP's.

Here's my write-up when I did the install: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ight=rod+bolts

Did that on my old Z/28. Torqued them as per ARP specs, and had no problems. Been in the car a couple of years, and I don't think the new owner has had any issues that were engine related. Shifted the car between 67-6800 rpm.

I did the Katech bolts over the winter. I have about 3000 miles on the car and many drag passes shifting at 6900. So far so good.
