Default Pushrods or not

Help me out here guys.I have heard from numerous people that know there stuff not to get hardened pushrods. If I understand correctly the reasoning is because its better to bend a pushrod than break something else?Correct me if Im wrong ,or convince me otherwise.

If you replace the pushrods with stronger ones, you need to replace the springs too. The pushrods were made to be the weak point in the engine for a reason so you don't bend your valves.

there should be NO weak point in your engine. if your engine is going to go, its going to go.

thats like building the car frame and designing a weak point so that when it snaps, it snaps clean. asshat of an idea, and not the first time i've heard it.

the catch-22 is, by using weak pushrods you can get flex and that can cause valvefloat and rob you of a TON of power. SOOOOO....either learn to drive your car and avoid a misshift, OR, drive a car that COULD make 400rwhp and only makes 375rw.

Why do you think you are going to bend a pushrod?

I just received my F13 kit from Futral wednesday in the mail. here is a list of the contents:

F13 230/232 112+0
PRC Platinum Springs
CHROME MOLY PUSHRODS
Cam Install Kit
Some Really Nifty Pens, A keychain, and a sticker. I like the pens a lot.

An engine is a system of components that are designed to work together as a system, to achieve a goal. Why is it commonly accepted that when you upgrade a cam, you upgrade the springs? Because they directly intereact!!!! Guess what? The pushrods are directly involved in that equation too Hence, if you have parts that are introducing increased levels of stress on stock parts, they are going to fail. Why would you want something to fail? Thats the part I don't understand. If you put something that has the proclivity to fail, then you don't even need to misshift necessarily for them to fail, you just need to put them under beyond-stock-tolerance conditions for a long enough period of time until they exceed their manufacturing tolerances and fail.

So....thats why you put in hardened pushrods.

Well I guess I will order some pushrods then.I see your in grapevine Cyphur, where you going for install and tuning, what mods you got? Also Im debating if an LS6 intake will be worth it?I know the obvious answer but 350 for ten horsepower is pushing it to me,at least since Im broke now.

I'll probably be doing my own install, with a little help from another board member. Tuning is still out for a verdict, I still haven't ruled out tuning it myself. If I get it done professionally, I know the guys @ FASTech, and I have heard good things about SQR.

Not a sponsor, lol. They are another local shop, google for information.

Fastech is a good shop, I know the shop manager up there, Todd. Good guy. He goes by the handle Reckless on the boards here.

Do you have yahoo or aol?
